I decided to take an evening walk along the lungomare which skirts the old town. As it faces west the dusk light was beautiful. I started at the Torre de l'Espero Reial and walked north. Notice de and not di. Alghero was under Catalan rule for many years and retains a lot of Catalan culture.
The only shot looking to the south of the tower.
Relics of fortification weapons.
It was very pleasant weather for people taking an aperitif outside.
Eventually I reached the marina and old port.
I returned via the narrow streets of the old town where dining had commenced.
Mondadori is a famous publishing house.
I wasn't very hungry in the evenings due to jet lag so I just had pizza al taglio (pizza by the slice). It was pretty good.

Bastion di San Remi
The elevated district of Cagliari is occupied by the Bastion di San Remi and state buildings.
This is a view after exiting at the foot.
The flat space is Piazetta D H Lawrence. He visited Sardinia in 1923, almost a century before me. His route took him inland and he departed from Terranova the north east corner. Today that city is called Olbia and was also my departure point later. But I visited the west coast, which he didn't.
