A day trip to the Stintino peninsula

My destination was La Pelosa, a beach famous for white sand. It's at the top of the peninsula. On the way I stopped at the eponymous town.

It seems there used to be a tuna fishing industry here.

There's a larger harbour on the north side of the town. Now tourism is the main industry.
About as far as I can go on the island is the La Pelosa beach.
What looks like a chessboard is a field of beach chairs and umbrellas.
The eponymous tower. Beyond it is the next island on the chain that ends at Isola Asinara (donkey) which is a national park but requires a boat to get there.
Maybe if I had been on a leisurely holiday at such accommodation, I might have had time to take a boat trip.
Since the summer peak season was over the beach was uncrowded.
But the water was still fantastically clear. Reminded me of the Caribbean.
It was past lunchtime and I had no luck finding an eatery on the east side of the peninsula. On the way back to Alghero along the west side, I stopped at La Spiaggia Mugoni, which faces south on an extended bay used mostly by windsurfers and found an upmarket restaurant there. As long as the food is good, it's worth paying a bit more, I thought.
I had a Sardinian speciality, fregola (pasta pearls) with clams. I can't say that I got hooked on it, but it was tasty enough.
There were a few cute cats on the premises.
